Perdido Pass / Orange Beach

Orange Beach public beach
Notice the ships in the distance as well as near shore. All ships are managing booms. Lots of locals are involved in trying to keep this oil under control and away from the intracoastal waterway.

Perdido Pass at Perdido Bay Bridge (Gulf side)
Notice helicopter flying overhead spotting for oil in the water. We saw 3 while standing out there - this black hawk, a coast guard, and a 3rd colored similar to coast guard. Boats are lined up trying to get through the pass to the intracoastal waterway (bay) zig-zagging through all the oil blocking mechanisms. Can't see in these pictures due to elevation of camera, but there are line after line of orange booms out beyond the pass into the Gulf marked by large yellow floats. Also, just this side of the gulf waves, there is a shrimping boat managing a large yellow oil boom.

Perdido Pass at Perdido Bay Bridge (bay/intracoastal waterway side)
The bay is covered with layer after layer of oil booms trying to keep it away from bay shores. The beach you see in the background is Robinson Island which is closed to the public ... our favorite beach which is accessible only by boat. The boat in the extreme foreground is the marine police. In the distance near the 3 towers of the Caribe Resort you will see LOTS of boats laying and managing oil booms.
